Codex

Connect feedback.tools feedback.tools to Codex and ask about your feedback right where you code: "What are the top bugs this month?" or "Which feature requests come up most often?"

Codex can read your surveys, create and set up surveys, and import new feedback. It can delete a single response, but only when you ask it to. It can't delete a survey or your account.

Codex keeps its own list of MCP servers, separate from the connectors in ChatGPT. The setup below works for the Codex CLI and the Codex IDE extension, since both read the same config.

Add the server and sign in

  1. Run this in your terminal:

    codex mcp add feedback-tools \
      --url https://feedback.tools/mcp
  2. Codex sees that the server uses OAuth and opens feedback.tools feedback.tools in your browser. Sign in if you aren't signed in yet.

  3. Check that the app asking for access is chatgpt.com, that it calls itself Codex and sends you back to 127.0.0.1. The page warns that the app runs on your computer. That's expected for Codex. Click Allow if you started the connection yourself.

Codex now works with the feedback.tools feedback.tools account you signed in to.

You can also add the server to ~/.codex/config.toml by hand:

[mcp_servers.feedback-tools]
url = "https://feedback.tools/mcp"

Then run codex mcp login feedback-tools to sign in.

Check that it works

Run:

codex mcp list

feedback-tools should be in the list. Now start Codex and ask:

List my surveys in feedback.tools.

Codex asks for permission the first time it uses the tool. Allow it. If you see your surveys, you're all set.

Disconnect

Open Settings → MCP connection in feedback.tools feedback.tools, find Codex under Connected apps and click Disconnect. Codex loses access right away. You can also run codex mcp logout feedback-tools to remove the sign-in on your computer.

Troubleshooting

"Not logged in", or "Unauthorized"
The connection was removed, or you didn't use it for 30 days. Run codex mcp login feedback-tools and allow access again.

The browser doesn't open
Codex prints the sign-in link in the terminal. Open it by hand in the browser on the same computer.

feedback-tools isn't in the list
Check that ~/.codex/config.toml has the [mcp_servers.feedback-tools] block with the right url.

"Data is locked" for a survey
The survey has no active subscription: it has ended, or a payment is overdue. Renew it to get the data back. The survey still shows up in the list.
